English Language Resource Center
The vision of the English Language Resource Center (ELRC) at IUB is to provide a platform to IUB students for the development of both written and verbal communication Skills. The ELRC offers a wide range of free English language services to upskill students with the necessary language skills that would help them cope with learning in their respective academic subjects through the medium of English. Students get excellent support and advice from experienced academic staff in the department of English and well-trained senior student tutors. As a versatile language learning space, the ELRC offers a range of learning and teaching resources, including an Online Language Support Hub with access to online language materials, useful weblinks to sites and online tools to help students improve their academic English with a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) policy for technology-aided, self-directed language learning. Available courses especially designed to help students improve their English for specific academic purposes include:
- Academic Speaking & Listening
- Academic Reading & Writing
- Thesis Writing
- Referencing both within the text and in a bibliography
- General English Development (grammar, punctuation, spelling, vocabulary, register, etc.)

The ELRC also engages students from the English Language Teaching (ELT) programme and offers real-world teaching contexts to encourage the methodological applications of linguistic theories. The centre periodically organises seminars, symposiums, teaching and learning workshops and roundtable discussions in order to brainstorm innovative ways to enhance students’ sociolinguistic knowledge and communicative competence while providing recommendations to in-service language teachers as well as policymakers.

- A growing library of multi-format materials in English
- Viewing of movies, online TV channels, videoconferencing, voice recording and multimedia support with a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) policy for technology-aided language learning
- Online Language Support Hub with access to online language materials, useful weblinks to sites and online tools to help students improve their academic English
Tutors
