Janina Islam Abir is Lecturer of Media and Communication at Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB). She has completed her BSS and MSS from Department of Mass Communication and Journalism, University of Dhaka.
Ms. Janina has been awarded with `President Gold Medal-2015’ for outstanding academic and co-curricular achievement in 50th convocation of University of Dhaka. She also holds `Ruquayyah Memorial Foundation Gold Medal’ and `Dean’s Award 2015’ from University of Dhaka for her academic accomplishment.
She is the co-author of book chapter titled `Press Freedom Dynamics in Bangladesh’ in book` Negotiating Journalism: Core Values and Cultural Diversities’ (Nordicom, Sweden: 2017). She has published research articles on press freedom, Media representation and Gender Identity in reputed journals.
She is also the co-author of `Gender based violence reporting guidelines for Bangladesh’ supported by GMMP (Global Media Monitoring Project. She has been awarded scholarships and grants to conduct research from of Oslo and Akershus University College of Applied Sciences in Norway.
Janina has been presented conference paper in -Norway, Portugal, India, Pakistan and Bangladesh. Her research interest includes cyberspace, gender identity and women in journalism.
