Ms. Sharmeen Ahmed is a Senior Lecturer of the Department of Social Science and Humanities at Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB). She received her MA degree in Sociology from Boston University, USA. She has also obtained her M.S.S. and B.S.S (Hons.) degree in Sociology from the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. She has ten years of teaching and research experience in USA, Canada and Bangladesh and supervised individual research projects for international students. Ms. Ahmed has published papers on local international peer reviewed journals. At IUB she teaches various courses in sociology. She is head of the Self Assessment committee in her department. Currently she supervises the administrative and research activities of the Centre for Social Science Research at IUB. Her areas of interest includes: political sociology, social inequality, globalization, migration, gender and family relations, health and environment and so forth. She is fond of reading books and novels, listening music and cooking.
