International Conference on Learning and Teaching held at IUB

A daylong International Conference on ‘Beyond Pedagogy: New Dimensions in Learning and Teaching’, held at the Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) on June 28, 2018 at IUB campus in Bashundhara, Dhaka. The Center for Pedagogy (CP) and the School of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences at IUB jointly organized the conference.
Dr. Tawfiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury, Bir Bikram, Advisor to the Prime Minister of Bangladesh on Energy, Power and Mineral Resources attended the inauguration ceremony of the conference as the Chief Guest. In his speech Dr. Elahi mentioned that, education is the main driving force of the nation for development. He also emphasized on the ethical elements of learning.
Professor Suhaimi Abdul Talib, Honorary Professor, Faculty of Civil Engineering, UiTM, Malaysia, was the Keynote Speaker of the conference. He presented a paper on `Responding to the Fourth Industrial Revolution through Outcomes-Based Education ’.
Professor Suhaimi illustrated on the fourth industrial revolution, disruptive technologies, future skill sets and flexible curriculum. He also mentioned about the 21st century skills, future work skills, designing the flexible curriculum, cross-discipline courses and challenges in designing outcomes-based education.
Mr. A Matin Chowdhury, Chairman, Board of Trustees, IUB, graced the inaugural ceremony as Special Guest while Prof M Omar Rahman, Vice Chancellor, IUB, chaired the session. Dr Mahbub Alam, Sub-Project Manager, Pedagogical Development at Undergraduate and Master’s Level and Dean, School of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences, IUB delivered the welcome speech.
More than 100 papers were submitted in the conference of which 65 papers from different countries were presented that include Australia, Malaysia and India.
