Dept of Media and Communication and CSSR host Session on PhD Education in the U.S

To encourage and guide young scholars, the Department of Media and Communication (DMC) and the Center for Social Science and Research (CSSR) organized a talk on “Pursuing PhD Education in the U.S: Opportunities for Bangladeshi Young Scholars”. The program addressing the Lecturers and prospective PhD candidates of Independent University, Bangladesh was held on July 29, 2019.
The talk was conducted by Dr Abu Naser, Assistant Professor, California State University, Bakersfield. He outlined the admission procedures and primary requirements for PhD admission in the U.S along with responding to various queries from the audience. Dr Naser served as a Senior Lecturer of the Department of Media and Communication at IUB during 2004-2007 before pursuing his PhD in the U.S. He went to Southern Illinois University, Carbondale as part of an MOU between the Department of Media and Communication, IUB and College of Mass Communication, Southern Illinois University, Carbondale.
Professor Imtiaz A. Hussain, Acting Dean of SLASS and Professor Zakir Hossain Raju, Head, Department of Media and Communication also spoke on the occasion. They focused on the importance of higher education for the young faculty members along with the discussion on several issues regarding seeking PhD in the U.S.
Members from the faculty, administration and students of IUB participated in the program.
